Charts of shapes and sizes

At Ongles au Bout des Doigts, we offer a wide range of shapes and sizes so that each client can find the application that suits them.

Available shapes

  • Almond: lengthens the fingers, very feminine and refined. Side edge ends in a soft point, like an almond. Very feminine, but less resistant than a square.

  • Oval: Slightly tapered tip with rounded edges, giving an elongating and elegant effect to the fingers. Ideal for a refined and feminine look.

  • Square: Modern and elegant, perfect for a clean, professional look. Straight edges with sharp 90° angles. Modern, structured look, but corners can snag.

  • Round: Rounded tip following the natural shape of the nail. Very natural appearance and practical for everyday use.

  • Coffin / Ballerina: Chic and modern, ideal for sophisticated looks. Straight sides and a flattened tip, reminiscent of a ballet shoe. Elegant and ideal for nail art.

  • Stiletto: Bold and trendy, for a glamorous effect. A thin, very elongated tip creates a dramatic and bold effect. Less suited to intense manual activities.

Regular Size Guide – Nails

Our regular size sets are designed to fit most hands. Each size corresponds to a set of numbered capsules.

  • Small: 2 – 6 – 4 – 5 – 8

  • Medium: 1 – 5 – 3 – 4 – 7

  • Large: 0 – 4 – 2 – 3 – 6

💅 Tip: Measure the width of your natural nails at their base (in millimeters) to compare with the chart above. If you're between two sizes, choose the larger one for the best fit.

The greatnesses

Our prosthetics are available in several sizes to fit all hands:

  • Short: practical and comfortable for everyday use.

  • Medium: the perfect balance between comfort and elegance.

  • Long: sophisticated and trendy effect, ideal for special occasions.

How to choose the right size

As an expert, I can explain in detail how to properly measure your nails to help you choose the most suitable prosthesis. Accurate measurement is essential to ensure comfort, durability, and aesthetics. When applying gel prosthetics, an incorrect size can cause premature detachment, discomfort, or an unsightly appearance.

Why measure your nails?

Measuring allows you to adjust the prosthesis to the width of your natural nail. A prosthesis that is too small will pull at the sides, while one that is too large will protrude from the nail plate and snag.

2. Necessary material

  • A flexible meter (sewing tape), or

  • A small millimeter ruler

  • A transparent tape (scotch tape) and a pencil to note the measurements

  • Or, our printed nail template design that we can deliver to you!

3. Measurement steps

Step 1: Prepare the nail

  • Clean your hands and remove any polish or gel residue.

Step 2: Measure the width

  • Measure from side to side, not including skin or cuticles.

  • Note the value in millimeters for each finger (because size varies from finger to finger).

Example :

  • Inch: 15 mm

  • Index: 12 mm

  • Major: 13 mm

  • Ring finger: 12 mm

  • Auricular: 10 mm

Step 3: Measure the length (optional)

  • Some prosthesis models are available in several lengths.

  • Measure from the bottom of the nail (near the cuticle) to the free end.

4. Adjustment with the supplier table

Prosthesis brands use numbered sizes (e.g. #0 #9). Each size corresponds to a width in millimeters.

  • Compare your measurements with the table provided (see images) take the measurements in mm next to the letter W

  • Always choose a prosthesis that is equal to or slightly wider than the nail, as it is possible to file the sides, but impossible to widen a capsule that is too narrow.

Concrete example:

If your index finger measures 10 mm and the mark indicates:

  • Size #4 = 10 mm
